Darlington - Elmer A. "Jack" Maxwell, 76, died Monday morning in Culver Hospital where he had been a patient 7 days. he had been seriously ill 10 days. Mr. Maxwell was a drainage contractor for several years before his retirement in 1961. He was a member of Garfield church and had attended Garfield schools. He was born August 10, 1902 in Boone County near Thorntown a son of Alexander C and Minnie Steffler Maxwell. He lived in Montgomery County most of his life. Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Paul (Caroline) Horine of Anderson and Mrs. Amy Hulvey of Darlington; and two brothers, Lawrence A. Maxwell of Anderson and Ralph l. Maxwell of near Darlington . He was preceded in death by 7 brothers. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Burkhart Funeral Chapel at Darlington with Rev. Robert Penrod officiating. Interment will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery at Darlington. Friends may call at the funeral home after 4 p.m. Wednesday.

Darlington – Elmer a. “Jack” Maxwell, 76, a local businessman died Monday morning in Culver Hospital, Crawfordsville. He had been hospitalized one week after a short illness. Born in Boone County near Thorntown, he lived most of his life in Montgomery County. He attended Garfield School and was a member of Garfield church. Mr. Maxwell was a drainage contractor for several years retiring in 1961. Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Paul (Caroline) Horine of Anderson and Mrs. Amy Hulvey of Darlington and two brothers, Lawrence A. Maxwell of Anderson and Ralph L. Maxwell of near Darlington.
